Steve Goforth

Steve Goforth - Director of Golf

An Upstate, SC native, Steve has over 15 years experience in the golf industry. Steve was introduced to the game of golf at the age of 8 and experienced success as a junior golfer and high school letterman.

Steve worked for Slazenger Golf from 1994-2000, where he was a custom club builder, certified fitting professional, and provided golf instruction. Steve has attended numerous club fitting schools and seminars and continues to broaden his knowledge of golf equipment and the golf swing. He was named a World’s Top 100 Club Fitter in 2007 and 2008.

Steve has called Eagle Zone his home for over 8 years. He is dedicated to providing quality golf instruction along with a true sincerity for each of his student’s success.
He is currently a PGA Apprentice who is close to obtaining his full PGA membership. Steve leads The Eagle Zone’s group of instructors and he conducts individual based lessons as well as adult and junior clinics.

Sandy Halkett

Sandy Halkett

Sandy Halkett is a native of Greenville, SC who started playing sports at a young age. While attending Eastside High School she played Basketball, Soccer, and Tennis then went on to play Soccer for Clemson University. While attending Clemson, Sandy started playing golf in her spare time. With her natural athletic ability she quickly advanced and developed a passion for the game. Thus, deciding to exchange her soccer cleats for golf spikes and has enjoyed playing ever since.
Sandy has been teaching golf for 12 years and is a Class “A” Member of the LPGA T&CP and an apprentice of the PGA program. She formerly worked as the Head Golf Professional at the Cliffs of Glassy and Millstone Golf Village. Sandy is also the golf coach for the Special Olympics and is a certified instructor for Adaptive Golf, a teaching program designed for physically challenged individuals.
Mrs. Halkett joined the Eagle Zone Staff in February of 2006 and is available for individual or group lessons and clinics.

 

Jamie Michala

Jamie Michala

Prior to joining the Eagle Zone, Jamie Michala was the Head Golf Professional at The Thornblade Club for seven years. Before that, she worked under Dick Harmon at River Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas for six years. A graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Jamie competed for the SMU women's golf team and contributed to two top five NCAA team finishes for SMU and earned a 7th place individual finish in the 1986 NCAA Championship. She was the New York State Women's Amateur Champion in 1986 and competed in the 1983 Women's US Open.

Chad Phillips

Chad was introduced to the game of golf at the age of 4 in his home state of Michigan. He participated in numerous junior golf programs and AJGA tournaments. He later won 2 individual state high school championships in the state of Michigan.
Chad turned pro at the age of 19 and has been an assistant golf professional at courses such as Ballenisles in North Palm Beach, Flordia, Spring Meadows C.C. in Linden, Michigan, Tyrone Hills in Fenton, Michigan, and Highland Oaks Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Dothan, Alabama.

Chad joined the Eagle Zone staff in April 2005. He is a full time instructor at our facility.

Bob Bell

Bob Bell

Bob is a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina and a graduate of the University of South Carolina.  His professional career started in 1979 as an assistant to Derek Hardy, one of the Americas top 100 golf instructors.  He has served as Head Golf Professional at a number of upstate golf clubs including Carolina Springs Golf Club, Fox Run Country Club, Hejaz Shrine Recreation Club, The Rock and The Links O’ Tryon.  He was also the Senior Instructor at Systematic Golf Schools in Raleigh, North Carolina and the Director of numerous junior golf programs including the Greenville Chapter of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association and the Plantation Junior Golf Winter Tour.  His juniors have collected three State Junior Championships.  His 30 years of experience give Bob a unique perspective on teaching the game to students of all ages and levels of experience.
